Job Role: Assistant Financial Controller

Location: A busy hotel near St Austell

Salary: £29,000 - £33,000 DOE

About the Job:
The Assistant Financial Controller will assist with various aspects of the hotel's accounting operations, enabling the Hotel Financial Controller to deliver timely financial information to both company directors and local management. This information will accurately represent the hotel's income and expenses in line with company policy. The Assistant Financial Controller will aid the Hotel Financial Controller in upholding effective control procedures and ensuring compliance with company policies regarding administration, accounting, and legal matters while also managing all business assets appropriately.

Responsibilities:
- HR Administration: Ensure accurate and timely management of employee data, benefits, and payroll.
- Hotel Revenue: Monitor and manage the hotel's revenue streams, including room sales, food and beverage, and other sources of income.
- Guest & Deposit Ledger Accounts: Maintain accurate records of guest deposits, payments, and outstanding balances.
- Supplier accounts and invoicing: Manage supplier relationships, process invoices, and maintain accurate records of supplier payments and outstanding balances.
- Payroll: Process payroll, manage employee benefits, and maintain accurate records of employee data and payments.
- Daily banking, petty cash, revenue audits and reports: Manage the hotel's cash handling, maintain accurate records of revenue and expenses, and prepare regular financial reports.
- Vouchers / Deposit accounts: Manage the hotel's voucher system, including processing vouchers, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- VAT / Tax Returns: Ensure accurate and timely management of VAT and tax returns, including preparation and submission of returns to the relevant authorities.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree/AAT in Accounting or Finance
- Proficiency in Accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero
- Experience in Accounts Payable and Financial management
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
