Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualised support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
  • Assist in developing and implementing effective learning strategies, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to succeed.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere, promoting a positive and supportive environment for all students.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that students receive the best possible support.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting support as necessary to ensure that each student makes progress and achieves their goals.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people in a SEN school setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting student development, with a focus on creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Ability to manage and support students with challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour management techniques to promote positive outcomes.
  • A current enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for a new one, ensuring that you are able to work with vulnerable students.
