About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Signalling & Telecoms Specialist to join our Infrastructure Division. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network by overseeing the installation, maintenance, and development of signalling and telecommunications systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning & Development:
    • Develop comprehensive plans for the implementation of new signalling and telecommunication infrastructure projects.
    • Identify and address potential skill gaps within the team, proposing solutions to enhance competency levels.
    • Conduct thorough reviews of staff and subcontractor competency records within the Infrastructure Division.
    • Provide insightful recommendations regarding career planning and development strategies for Signalling & Telecoms resources.
    • Support the development of level crossing competence within the signalling team.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of installation and construction staff, adhering to a predetermined annual schedule and generating comprehensive reports in accordance with company procedures.
    • Ensure that all resources involved in signalling and telecommunication installation and construction activities across the Track Division strictly comply with relevant specifications and standards set by the Lead Engineer and Head of Compliance and Assurance.
  • Collaboration & Support:
    • Establish effective communication channels with the Project Engineer and Signalling Manager to guarantee a seamless and integrated service delivery to clients.
    • Provide proactive assistance in resolving on-site queries and challenges.
  • Safety & Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct rigorous audits and reviews to confirm that all internal installation resources possess the necessary competence to execute their assigned tasks in accordance with Network Rail and Colas Rail procedures.
    • Ensure that external installation resources (subcontractors) meet the required competency standards for their specified works, adhering to all relevant Network Rail and Colas Rail procedures.
    • Provide comprehensive reviews of any signalling-related quality and safety concerns.
