About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Level Crossing Supervisor to join our team at Colas Rail. As a key member of our signalling and level crossing installation team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising work groups, ensuring the safe and efficient installation of level crossings and signalling systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Leadership: Supervise signalling teams to ensure compliance with best practices, Network and Company Standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Safety and Quality: Ensure the safety integrity of all activities undertaken by the staff you are responsible for, and maintain robust records to support this.
  • Cost Control: Manage installation costs against budgets and maintain records to support this.
  • Team Development: Organize, manage, and develop a first-class signalling and level crossing installation team, and maintain suitable hard copy and soft copy records for regular audit.
  • Project Delivery: Allocate installation resources to projects, both internal and external, to deliver required skills and keep the team utilization on or above target.
  • Operational Requirements: Meet the operational requirements of the organization, which may change from time to time.
Person Specification
  • Engineering Manager (Installation) IRSE License: Hold or working towards this license.
  • SMTH & G110 (Tester & Author Checker): Hold or be able to hold this certification.
  • PTS, COSS/IWA Track Safety Competencies: Hold these competencies.
  • SMTH Competency: Hold this competency.
  • Level Crossing Installation Experience: Proven experience in the installation and testing of level crossings, ideally including object detection systems.
  • Team Leadership Experience: Proven experience of team leadership and influencing staff.
  • Signalling and Telecoms Experience: Previous experience of signalling and telecoms installation and construction activities with a thorough working knowledge of Network Rail standards.
  • Budgeting and Reporting: Proven experience of delivering to budgets and timescales, and understanding of budgeting, profit, and loss, and reporting.
