Position Overview

Are you eager to take on a pivotal role within the Smart Meter operations sector, leveraging your expertise in stakeholder engagement and operational management? The Smart Energy Code Company (SECCo) is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team.

Smart Metering is essential for achieving a net-zero energy landscape, making it crucial to ensure that smart meters and the associated Smart Energy Code (SEC) frameworks are prepared for future challenges. The SEC parties are leading initiatives that empower energy consumers to optimize their energy usage and lower their bills, while also enhancing the efficiency of the energy system. As a key player in the UK's decarbonization efforts, SECCo plays a vital role in supporting the nation's low-carbon objectives.

The SECCo Board is committed to expanding its executive capabilities by introducing new positions that will complement the existing SEC code administrator, thereby enhancing service delivery to SEC Parties.

Key Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role is to oversee the transition to 4G Communications Hubs as the Chair of the SEC Communications Transition Group (CTG) Sub-Committee. This position demands not only effective leadership but also substantial technical knowledge in smart metering. The CTG's mission is to ensure a smooth transition while maintaining uninterrupted smart services for consumers, minimizing any potential disruptions.

As the Industry Operations Lead, you will collaborate closely with the SECCo senior leadership team and various stakeholders to shape and execute the SEC's Code Governance Transformation Programme. This initiative aims to streamline SEC governance, ensuring it is effective and resilient enough to support enduring governance and position SECCo as a credible potential licensed Code Manager.

Additionally, you will assist the Head of Industry Operations by independently addressing key operational challenges identified in the Operations Steering Group (OPSG). As the year progresses, your focus will shift more towards OPSG matters as the 4G Comms Hub rollout transitions into Business as Usual (BaU).

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A proven history of delivering successful outcomes in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Experience in chairing meetings and workshops, with the ability to engage collaboratively yet persuasively with senior industry stakeholders.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • A thorough understanding of the GB Smart Metering framework, including technical aspects of the end-to-end solution.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Smart Energy Code and its regulatory requirements.
  • A minimum of 5 years of operational experience within the GB Energy Industry.
  • Extensive project management experience, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
