We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to join our team at AJ Fox Compliance, a dynamic and forward-thinking company. This exciting opportunity is based in a hybrid work environment, offering flexibility and autonomy for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will possess strong written and communication skills, with a solid understanding of regulatory frameworks such as CQS, Lexcel, and SRA Regulations. Proven experience in compliance within the legal sector is highly desirable for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Guidance: Provide expert guidance to clients on acquiring and maintaining Legal Aid Contracts, ensuring compliance with quality standards (SQM/Lexcel/CQS/WIQS), audit preparations, and post-audit checks.
  • Audit Review: Assess audit reports, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Compliance Review: Review Client Care Letters and Terms & Conditions for compliance with the SRA, SQM/Lexcel/CQS, Legal Aid Agency, and other relevant legislation, including the UK GDPR.
  • Regulatory Updates: Identify and implement firm and compliance-based updates required to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Regulatory Research: Conduct research on SRA-regulated law firms to ensure compliance with the SRA Transparency Rules and other regulations, including Companies House requirements and the UK GDPR.
  • Application Preparation: Prepare and submit SRA applications, ensuring timely progression of matters.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Liaise with the SRA in advance of and following the submission of applications to ensure smooth progression.
  • Team Support: Support the team in developing Junior Compliance Officers, providing guidance and mentorship.
