We are seeking experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support our partner school in Hastings, a purpose-built special school offering a nurturing environment for pupils with SEMH and associated needs.

The school is part of an Ofsted 'outstanding' multi-academy trust, focusing on delivering outstanding education and care for pupils with SEMH needs.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with SEMH needs, promoting their emotional, academic, vocational, and physical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and providing support for pupils with SEMH needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Setting challenging and demanding expectations and promoting self-esteem and independence.
  • Providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.
  • Assisting with the planning of learning activities.
  • Monitoring pupils' responses to learning activities and accurately recording achievement/progress as directed.
  • Promoting good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.

Requirements:

  • Devotion and resilience to support children with SEMH needs.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is desirable.
  • Ability to motivate students towards high achievement.
  • Commitment to fulfilling the needs of pupils experiencing behavioural, emotional, or learning difficulties, and social communication difficulties.
