About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Professional to join our team in the Maritime Explosive Ordnance System Program Office (MEOSPO). As an APS 6 Engineering Professional, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of explosive ordnance systems for the Australian Defence Force.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and analyse engineering concepts and risks to ensure the safe and effective operation of explosive ordnance systems.
  • Manage the configuration of guided weapons and explosive ordnance items to ensure compliance with Defence standards and regulations.
  • Plan and deliver critical engineering activities to support the development and implementation of explosive ordnance systems.
  • Provide expert advice to stakeholders on engineering matters related to explosive ordnance systems.
  • Mentor junior members to develop their skills and knowledge in explosive ordnance systems.
  • Enable good inventory decisions with quality and timely engineering advice to support the effective operation of explosive ordnance systems.

The MEOSPO team is part of the Explosive Materiel Branch, which is responsible for the acquisition and sustainment of guided weapons and munitions for the Australian Defence Force. Our team is made up of various disciplines, including engineering, project management, commercial, logistics, and corporate enabling services. Requirements
  • Be a highly proactive and organised Engineer with a background in explosive ordnance, mechanical, chemical, or electrical engineering.
  • Have demonstrated experience as a productive and collaborative team member delivering high-quality engineering activities, including producing detailed engineering reports and artefacts, presenting information and advice to inform executive decision making.
  • Be a clear and concise communicator (written and verbal), strong team player, able to analyse, interpret, and apply engineering guidance, policy, and regulations, influence stakeholders, and evaluate strategies to achieve outcomes.
  • Take the initiative to resolve issues by identifying and developing ideas through analysis of alternative courses of action, whilst identifying their implications and associated risks.
