This is a large-scale, internationally recognized not-for-profit organization with a significant presence in the UK. Their procurement and supply chain team is essential to their operation, delivering cost-effective solutions to various departments within the organization.

Description

As a Category Manager, you will have experience in Public Sector Procurement (PCR2015 becoming PA23) and end-to-end procurement delivery from stakeholder specification to contract award and management. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing strategic sourcing strategies aligned with organizational goals
  • Managing relationships with suppliers and negotiating contracts to ensure value for money
  • Leading a procurement team, fostering a positive and productive work environment
  • Monitoring market trends and identifying potential areas for savings
  • Ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures
  • Collaborating with other departments to understand their procurement needs

Profile

A successful Category Manager should possess:

  • A proven track record in public sector procurement, with a focus on strategic sourcing and category management
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and establish strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of analyzing data and identifying opportunities for cost savings
  • Thorough understanding of procurement best practices, market trends, and legal requirements
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to produce spend analysis and procurement information tailored for different audiences
  • Support for developing a robust supplier base for the procurement of goods and services
  • Excellent communication skills when interacting with internal and external colleagues

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or an appropriate professional institute
  • Masters or degree-level qualification in a related subject area
  • Continuous professional development (CPD)
  • Supply chain management training, supplemented by additional specialist courses as required
