Rheumatology Specialty Physician
We are seeking a dedicated Rheumatology Specialty Physician to become a vital part of our innovative department that emphasizes research and clinical excellence. This position entails delivering exceptional care to patients with rheumatological conditions in both outpatient and inpatient environments, collaborating closely with consultants and specialized nursing staff to address the healthcare requirements of the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing comprehensive assessments, diagnostic tests, and treatments for patients within the Rheumatology Department.
- Overseeing and mentoring junior medical staff and specialized nursing personnel.
- Engaging in educational initiatives both internally and externally within the department.
- Participating in research projects, audits, and clinical governance activities.
- Providing clinical support to clinic personnel.
- Managing administrative responsibilities related to the Rheumatology field.
- Coordinating with other hospital departments, general practitioners, and external organizations.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective inpatient and outpatient service delivery.

As part of the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will join a respected Teaching Hospital committed to serving a diverse population. Within the Rheumatology Department, you will collaborate with a team of consultants, junior doctors, specialist nursing staff, and a multidisciplinary team across various specialties. Qualifications:
Essential:
- MBChB/MBBS or equivalent qualification.
- MRCP (or equivalent).
- A minimum of four years of postgraduate training, including two years in a relevant specialty.
- Full registration with the General Medical Council.
- Clinical expertise and proficiency in Rheumatology.
- Ability to impart clinical knowledge relevant to the position.
- Experience in clinical education.
- Understanding of audit principles.
- Proficiency in IT.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Willingness to work across multiple locations.
Desirable:
- Advanced degree such as MD or PhD.
- Experience in team leadership and service management.
- Recognized teaching qualification.
- Advanced skills in audit and research.
- Personal attributes including creativity and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
