Internal Auditor Job Description

Lewisham Plus Credit Union is seeking an experienced internal auditor to conduct an audit of our operations and provide assurance to our Board and Supervisory Committee that our control infrastructure is operating effectively and in line with regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and auditing our:

  • Procedures guides
  • Compliance with financial controls
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Cash and teller counts
  • General ledger reconciliations
  • Verification of closed accounts
  • Loan documentation and loan opening review
  • Credit control
  • Directors and employees accounts
  • Controls over members shares
  • Personnel records
  • Payroll reconciliations
  • KPI and PRA reporting

This role will have significant autonomy and will require a commitment of 1-2 days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audits and reviews of our operations and procedures
  • Identify and report on areas of risk and non-compliance
  • Provide recommendations for improvements and changes in procedures
  • Collaborate with our Board and Supervisory Committee to ensure effective implementation of audit findings

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in internal auditing and risk management
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
