About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and dedicated Sports Mentor to join a Specialist Education School (SEN) in Penarth. As a Sports Mentor, you will work with pupils aged 3-19, playing a key role in developing their physical abilities and encouraging healthy lifestyle habits.

This specialist school benefits from on-site professionals, including a Physiotherapist and Psychologist, who provide insights to support students' development both physically and academically. Physical activity is essential for improving motor skills, enhancing cognitive abilities, and building positive relationships. As a Sports Mentor, you will help promote these outcomes inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist teachers in ensuring students remain active and engaged in both classroom and outdoor activities.
  2. Promote physical and mental well-being by encouraging healthy and active lifestyles.
  3. Work with pupils exhibiting challenging behaviours to help them unlock their potential and succeed.
  4. Collaborate with school staff, parents, and external professionals to provide the best possible support for students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
  5. Adapt to the needs of students aged 3-19, who may have autism or complex medical needs, helping them thrive and develop independence.
Candidate Requirements:

A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, EWC registration, the ability to provide two references from the last 24 months, the right to work in the UK, and up-to-date safeguarding training are required.
