About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Sports Mentor to join our team at a Specialist Education School in Penarth. As a Sports Mentor, you will play a key role in developing the physical abilities and encouraging healthy lifestyle habits of students aged 3-19 with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to provide the best possible support for students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). You will assist in ensuring students remain active and engaged in both classroom and outdoor activities, promote physical and mental well-being, and adapt to the needs of students with varying abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering physical education lessons and activities that cater to the needs of students with SEN.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles and physical activity among students, staff, and parents.
  • Work with students exhibiting challenging behaviors to help them unlock their potential and succeed.
  • Collaborate with school staff and external professionals to provide support for students with complex needs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to adapt physical education lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
Requirements
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • EWC registration.
  • The ability to provide two references from the last 24 months.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training.
