The role requires evaluating the requirements of children and families to offer tailored recommendations for suitable support.

Position Details
This is a full-time role, comprising 35 hours per week.

Salary
Annual remuneration is set at £29,000.

Contract Type
This is a permanent position, contingent upon the successful completion of a probationary period.

The Naval Children's Charity is dedicated to providing financial and holistic support to children and families across the UK. We collaborate closely with other charitable organizations and maintain our own team of caseworkers, utilizing both external and internal case management systems.

Key Responsibilities
Caseworkers are responsible for delivering support and guidance to eligible individuals in accordance with the policies of the Naval Children's Charity. Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the initial point of contact for beneficiaries.
  • Conducting preliminary assessments of need through various communication channels.
  • Engaging with families who reach out for assistance.
  • Prioritizing urgent requests for support.
  • Managing inquiries and correspondence from beneficiaries.
  • Building trusting relationships with beneficiaries, providing support and directing them to relevant services.
  • Coordinating with external caseworkers to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Reviewing grant applications and making recommendations.
  • Following up with beneficiaries post-casework to evaluate outcomes and identify any ongoing needs.
  • Investigating eligibility for statutory funds and advising on additional funding sources.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies.
  • Keeping accurate records of all inquiries and applications.
  • Providing regular updates and reports to the Casework Team Manager.
  • Processing invoices and liaising with the finance department.
  • Staying informed on relevant legislation and support systems.
  • Engaging in continuous professional development.
  • Undertaking other related duties as required.

Candidate Profile
Experience:

  • Professional background in a Triage, Caseworker, or Family Support role.
  • Experience working with serving personnel, veterans, or children in a supportive capacity.
  • Familiarity with the benefits system.
  • Knowledge of the Naval and Armed Forces charity sector is desirable.

Essential Skills:

  • Empathetic and non-judgmental approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office 365.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Team-oriented with a positive, solution-focused mindset.

Additional Information
Expenses incurred while performing job duties will be reimbursed per policy. Attendance at events to engage with families may be required, with compensatory time off provided. Successful candidates will undergo necessary training and security checks.
