About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Head Chef to join our team at Chartwells - Schools. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for creating an outstanding dining experience for our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our students
  • Lead a team of chefs and kitchen staff to ensure high-quality food production and presentation
  • Manage kitchen operations, including inventory, ordering, and food safety
  • Collaborate with our nutrition team to ensure compliance with nutritional standards
  • Monitor and control food costs, labor costs, and waste reduction initiatives
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all kitchen staff
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the best possible products and services
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest culinary trends and techniques to continuously improve our menu offerings
Requirements
  • City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent
  • Proven experience in a similar Head Chef role, preferably in an education setting
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Passion for food and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
