adults requiring support within a secure inpatient environment. Our services cater to both male and female patients, as well as an older adult demographic.

The Birmingham facility features eight wards within a secure, self-contained environment. Our wards include a mix of low and medium secure settings, with dedicated services for women and older male adults. We provide care and treatment for individuals with complex mental health issues and personality disorders who require secure services. Additionally, our site is equipped with various therapeutic resources, including an Art Studio, Workshop, Gym, Sports Hall, music space, and a courtyard for horticultural activities.

Within our Occupational Therapy team, we deliver comprehensive treatment through meaningful engagement. Our objective is to empower patients with the necessary life skills to lead fulfilling lives, enhancing their health and wellbeing, independence, purpose, and balance in daily activities.

The Role and Candidate Profile

You will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, managing a clinical caseload and providing OT-specific assessments and interventions to both groups and individuals in your care. Strong communication skills are essential, both written and verbal, enabling you to build effective professional relationships with your clinical team and the broader professional network.

A solid understanding of occupational therapy within inpatient settings is crucial; you should be able to demonstrate the positive impact occupational therapists have on the lives of our patients. You will also share your experiences in applying the OT process to achieve favorable patient outcomes and illustrate how you advocate for the profession within your clinical team.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or secure services An interest in and understanding of various guiding theoretical frameworks and approaches, such as the Model of Human Occupation, VdT MoCA, occupational science, occupational diagnosis, and sensory approaches. Experience in utilizing occupational assessment tools to support clinical reasoning, treatment planning, and evaluation of interventions. Excellent communication skills Resilience and curiosity
