Emotional Health and Wellbeing Practitioner

The Children's Society is seeking a skilled Emotional Health and Wellbeing Practitioner to join our team in Birmingham. As a key member of our innovative mental health team, you will work with children, young people, and young adults to provide low-intensity support under a brief intervention framework.

Our Emotional Health and Wellbeing services are designed to support the needs of the communities we work with, and as such, you may be required to work unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. However, these will always be discussed and agreed with you in advance.

We are looking for a Wellbeing Practitioner who has a genuine passion and working knowledge of young people and mental health. You will need to be able to develop good therapeutic relationships with CYP and families, and have experience of working in settings with young people who have emotional, behavioural, and/or mental health concerns.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct low-level therapeutic support that is person-centred
  • Delivering improved wellbeing for children and young people presenting in crisis
  • Having a good working knowledge of mental and emotional health issues that young people face today, including interventions on how to support young people in overcoming these challenges

We are committed to safeguarding and protecting the children and young people that we work with, and as such, all posts are subject to a safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks.

We welcome applications from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities, and all people within diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
