About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced commercial professional to lead our Prisoner Education Services team. As the Head of Commercial Services for Education, you will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies, managing contracts, and building relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving commercial innovation and delivering value for money agreements for the Government Commercial Function.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement category strategies for education and skills services, including screening and assessment tools, core education, careers information and guidance, library services, higher and further education, and common awarding organisations.
- Manage contracts valued at ca. £150m per annum, ensuring delivery of high-quality services to 103 prisons in England.
- Design and implement a strategic supplier management and engagement plan to ensure the team is informed on supply market dynamics, commercial information, and insights.
- Build system capability to produce user-friendly management information, at prison level, for all education service contracts and suppliers.
- Deliver year-on-year cash savings to contribute to the Government Commercial Function's savings target.
- Foster a culture of collaborative working to create joined-up ways of working within the teams and with cross-directorate programmes.
- Recruit new team members to broaden the commercial skill mix within the teams and provide business resilience.
- Highly numerate and must already hold a MCIPS qualification.
- Assertive and decisive, with the ability to manage complexity and build relationships with a wide range of suppliers and stakeholders.
- Experience of managing multi-site teams, with a range of skills and experiences, at different levels of professional development.
