Job Title: Housing Officer

Join our team at CRA GROUP LIMITED as a Housing Officer and play a vital role in providing support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Housing Officer to join our team. As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for conducting housing options interviews with customers, assessing their housing needs, and providing advice on the housing choices available to them.

You will work closely with colleagues to meet the council's obligations under the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Your key duties will include:

  • Conducting housing options interviews with customers to assess their housing needs and provide advice on the housing choices available to them.
  • Negotiating and mediating with landlords, parents, and other accommodation providers to prevent homelessness and provide practical assistance to help customers remain in their accommodation.
  • Providing good quality advice, information, and assistance through face-to-face interviews, home visits, colocation, by telephone, and by correspondence within a customer care framework.
  • Providing detailed knowledge of housing legislation and case law in relation to homelessness, children, immigration law, social housing sector, landlord and tenant law, and family law, including domestic abuse and welfare benefits and rights.
Essential Experience:

We are looking for an experienced Housing Officer who has:

  • Experience of working with homeless individuals under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 as amended, including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and the Homelessness Act 2002.
  • Experience of landlord and tenant legislation, the Housing Act 1985 and 1988, the Protection from Eviction Act 1977, and knowledge of family law and welfare benefits.
  • Experience of developing strategies for preventing homelessness and the main housing options initiatives provided by both statutory and voluntary organisations.
Essential Qualification:

We require a general education qualification.
