Database Specialist

CNA Hardy, a leading commercial insurance provider within the Lloyd's and company markets, is seeking a skilled Database Specialist to join our Operations & IT team. Reporting to the Application Support Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and optimization of our SQL Server database environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance existing database systems and environments for improved performance and efficiency.
  • Standardize and optimize SSIS packages to streamline data integration processes.
  • Document SSIS and SSRS environments comprehensively, ensuring clear understanding and maintainability.
  • Plan and execute SQL Server upgrades, minimizing downtime and ensuring seamless transitions.
  • Proactively recommend system enhancements leveraging new SQL features to maximize database capabilities.
  • Provide technical support to internal MSP teams, resolving database-related issues promptly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with external IT teams to ensure seamless integration and data exchange.
  • Manage individual projects efficiently, adhering to deadlines and delivering high-quality results.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting and tuning SQL Server environments for optimal performance.
  • Strong understanding of database standards and best practices, with the ability to establish and enforce them.
  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures to efficiently manage data.
  • Experience in updating and creating SSIS packages for robust data integration solutions.
  • Ability to develop and enhance SSRS reports for insightful data visualization and reporting.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server upgrade processes and best practices.
  • Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio, GIT, and Jira.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies for efficient project management.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex database issues.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies is preferred.
