Job Summary

Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking a skilled Regulatory Enforcement Officer to join our Trading Standards Investigations Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for investigating alleged offences across the Trading Standards function, gathering evidence, taking witness statements, and submitting investigation reports in line with service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate a range of alleged offences, including doorstep crime, fraud, counterfeiting, and environmental crime
  • Gather evidence, take witness statements, and conduct suspect interviews in accordance with PACE and associated codes of practice
  • Submit investigation reports in line with service standards
  • Work collaboratively with members of the public, partner agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of criminal law and procedures

Requirements

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) are essential
  • A Trading Standards diploma or equivalent qualification and/or experience is required
  • Part-qualified candidates will also be considered
