Job Title: Clinical/Counselling Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team at the Thumbswood Mother and Baby Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist psychological assessments and interventions to women who are pregnant or up to 2 years postnatal, who have, or are at risk of, a range of complex mental health problems.

About the Role

The Clinical/Counselling Psychologist will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, evidence-based psychological interventions to service users and their families. The role will involve assessing and formulating complex mental health problems, developing and implementing treatment plans, and providing supervision and training to junior psychology colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions to women who are pregnant or up to 2 years postnatal, who have, or are at risk of, a range of complex mental health problems.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, evidence-based psychological interventions to service users and their families.
  • Assess and formulate complex mental health problems, developing and implementing treatment plans.
  • Provide supervision and training to junior psychology colleagues.
  • Contribute to the development of perinatal-specific knowledge and skills base within the team and wider Trust.
Requirements
  • Post-graduate doctorate in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, or fully completed training as a Counselling Psychologist.
  • Strong experience working as a qualified practitioner with clients with severe mental illness within a mental health setting.
  • Experience of working with women who are pregnant or up to 2 years postnatal, who have, or are at risk of, a range of complex mental health problems.
  • Training in risk assessment and management.
