Band 6 Professional Development Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Band 6 Charge Nurse to join our team at Oak Ward, a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) within Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will provide mental health support and care to service users experiencing a mental health crisis, act as the charge nurse for the unit, and be responsible for a designated group of patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
The ideal candidate will have post-registration experience at Band 5, evidence of continuing professional development, and experience of risk assessment and management.
As a member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with psychologists, occupational therapy, recreational workers, nursing, and medical teams to deliver high-quality care to our service users.
Key Responsibilities- Provide mental health support and care to service users experiencing a mental health crisis.
- Act as the charge nurse for the unit.
- Be responsible for a designated group of patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Lead shifts on the ward and provide clinical supervision to junior staff members.
- Participate in ward rounds, handovers, and meetings related to patient care.
- RMN/RLDN or Dip/BSc (Hons) in Mental Health/Learning Disability Nursing with relevant qualifications.
- Post-registration experience at Band 5.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience of risk assessment and management.
- Understanding of the legal framework MHA, MCA, DoL, safeguarding, and social factors involved in care.
