Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 1FTE (part-time options considered).

Salary: £25,350 (APO2 Grade) to £27,300 (PO1 Grade) per annum, based on experience, plus a 9% pension contribution.

Overall Purpose:

The role of the Ecological Assistant is pivotal in supporting the execution of ecological assessments and related projects at Wildscapes. This position will focus on assisting with Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Ecological Impact Assessments (EIAs), and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Assessments, while also aiding Senior Ecologists in managing protected species initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering quotes to clients as needed, with guidance from a Senior Ecologist, tailored to experience level.
  • Overseeing and coordinating volunteers, subcontractors, and interns.
  • Managing ecological administration, financial, and other operational processes in collaboration with the WS Central team and Trust.
  • Facilitating data management and reporting workflows.
  • Administering projects and coordinating health and safety documentation as necessary.
  • Assisting in the execution of PEAs, EIAs, and BNG Assessments.
  • Supporting Senior Ecologists and specialists in conducting protected species work.
  • Contributing to the preparation of high-quality ecological reports and providing timely advice within budget constraints.
  • Coordinating GIS contributions to the consultancy.
  • Supervising the upkeep and management of field equipment.
