Job Type: Permanent, contingent on business performance.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 1FTE (part-time options considered).
Salary: £25,350 (APO2 Grade) to £27,300 (PO1 Grade) per annum, based on experience, plus a 9% pension contribution.
Overall Purpose:
The role of the Ecological Assistant involves supporting the execution of ecological assessments and related projects undertaken by Wildscapes.
Specifically, this position will aid in conducting Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Ecological Impact Assessments (EIAs), and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Assessments, while also assisting Senior Ecologists with protected species initiatives.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with the Ecology Team and the wider organization to ensure that Wildscapes CIC maintains its status as an innovative social enterprise with a strong reputation for benefiting people, wildlife, and the natural environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering quotes to clients as needed, with guidance from a Senior Ecologist, tailored to experience level.
- Overseeing and coordinating volunteers, subcontractors, and work experience students.
- Managing Ecology-related administrative, financial, and operational processes in conjunction with the WS Central team.
- Coordinating data management and reporting activities.
- Administering projects and ensuring compliance with health and safety documentation.
- Assisting in the execution of PEAs, EIAs, and BNG Assessments.
- Supporting Senior Ecologists and specialists in protected species projects.
- Contributing to the preparation of high-quality ecological reports and timely advice.
- Providing and coordinating GIS support for consultancy projects.
- Supervising the upkeep and management of field equipment.
