Job Summary:

James Stevens Associates is seeking a highly skilled Governance and Risk Officer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Company Secretary/Head of Governance & Risk in ensuring that our client, a well-recognized UK charity, complies with its legal and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the coordination of risk and governance (internal and external), administration activities, and assist the Head of Governance & Risk in arranging and responding to contract and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the charity's projects, serve as a central point of contact for day-to-day risk, insurance, and governance-related matters for staff and external stakeholders, and deputize on behalf of the Head of Governance & Risk.
  • Develop assurance activities for regulatory compliance, support service departments with their operational risk management, and assist with governance meetings and drafting minutes.
  • Work with the Company Secretary/Head of Governance & Risk to promote high standards of corporate governance, ensuring the charity and its subsidiaries meet their legal, governance, and regulatory obligations.
  • Support services with their regulatory reporting, ensure the policy library is up to date, coordinate governance training records, compile and track governance, risk, and compliance action plans and trackers, and manage digital records, title documents, and evidence.
  • Servicing governance meetings, gathering information, and assembling data to support regulatory returns, updating the governance pages of the charity's website and intranet, and ensuring corporate information, policies, and guidance are available in accordance with the Code of Governance.
  • Support and develop operational risk management activities, ensuring robust processes and procedures comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, achieving a high standard in managing the charity's risk management activity, seeking assurance and evidence, tracking progress, and maintaining contact details and supplier information in the Business Continuity Plan.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of governance experience in a well-regulated environment.
  • Non-essential but desirable: risk experience.
