About Your New Role

As a key member of the Weightmans team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional information security support to the business. Reporting to the Technical Implementation Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the security and integrity of our systems and data.

You will be working at a technical level across a range of security technologies, leveraging your expertise to develop and implement effective security processes and procedures. Your goal will be to help the business continue to succeed by identifying and mitigating potential security risks.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Tune and configure preventative and detective security systems to respond to emerging threats.
  • Schedule and interpret vulnerability scans, and undertake or monitor remedial actions as necessary.
  • Investigate security incidents in collaboration with external suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate communication of incidents to relevant teams, and coordinating remediation activities.
  • Schedule penetration tests and take ownership of resulting remedial actions.
  • Act as an escalation point for the Service Desk and Return to Service teams on security issues.
  • Develop day-to-day operational IT procedures to maintain and improve our security position.
  • Perform regular security and configuration checks, capturing associated metrics.
  • Deliver technical projects to improve internal systems and processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies and threats to ensure security controls are current and optimal.
  • Be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality documentation for users and IT colleagues.
  • Ensure all queries are handled in a professional, timely, and appropriate manner.
  • Collaborate with IS Support Manager and other IS Managers to identify trends and proactive improvement opportunities, and make IT operations more efficient.
  • Keep skills up-to-date, developing a depth or breadth of knowledge in an appropriate area through learning and practice.
  • Present a pleasant, helpful, and professional demeanor when dealing with business and customers.
  • Be available to work outside normal hours as required, including scheduling and attendance at works outside normal working hours.
  • Perform ad-hoc site visits to Weightmans offices as and when required.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.

About You

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Strong experience in a role such as Security, System, or Network Engineer.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and associated solution stack, including Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) solutions, Firewall/Web Content Filtering solutions, Federated Identity Solutions for cloud/SaaS applications, Web server software such as Microsoft IIS, and Anti-malware solutions such as Defender ATP.
  • A strong working understanding and experience of the following security areas: Infrastructure Security, Web Application Security, and Active Directory Security.
  • Strong individual and team working skills, with good self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • A business and customer focus, with constant awareness of trying to match the department's expectation of IS.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of users, suppliers, and technical staff in a patient and helpful manner.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to document user guides, write procedures, reports, etc.

  • Prior experience working within an IS environment aligned to ITIL principles.
  • Scripting and automation knowledge.
