About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Engineer to join our team at Wessex Water. As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in leading the delivery of engineering solutions for our water infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead small to medium-sized projects, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery.
  • Specify and manage surveys involving third-party contractors, including ground and geochemical investigations, topographic surveys, pump tests, and condition surveys.
  • Request and address environmental actions as specified in E3MP, working closely with other team members.
  • Ensure compliance with Construction and Design Management Regulations (CDM).
  • Prepare design fee proposals and scheme programmes.
  • Submit HAUC Permits.
  • Present designs to stakeholders, addressing potential controversies and ensuring approval.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in designing water mains infrastructure.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Understanding of operational infrastructure.
  • HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
  • Business and commercial awareness.
  • Good working knowledge of our technical standards, people, and systems.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of CDM regulations and the designer's role.
