Job Summary

GE Aviation is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team as a Substation Automation Specialist. As a key member of our HVDC Control Systems team, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and testing HVDC control systems for our global projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Configuration: Design and configure HVDC control systems, including IEC61850 IED's, Substation Configuration description Language (SCL) files, and industrial communication networks.
  • Testing and Debugging: Test and debug complex IEC61850 communication systems using industry-standard tools such as IEDSCout and Wireshark.
  • System Integration: Coordinate and interface HVDC control systems with Balance of Plant equipment and SCADA systems.
  • Documentation and Collaboration: Share engineering information, promote open dialogue, and assure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks.

Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Electronics/Electrical engineering or related field.
  • Experience: Strong background in configuring Substation Bay Controllers / Merging Units / IEC61850 IED's / HMI / SCADA Technologies, Control Panel design, Distributed Control Systems / Substation Automation, and industrial communication networks.
  • Skills: Proficiency in engineering tools such as AutoCAD, e-base, Microsoft Visio, and knowledge of fibre optic cabling systems, LV cable sizing and distribution, and electrical designs for industrial control systems.
