Maintenance Engineer for Water Systems

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Service Engineer (SE) is accountable for:
Hands-on maintenance and repair of water treatment systems.
Conducting scheduled service visits and ad-hoc maintenance tasks.
Responding to emergency service calls, occasionally outside of standard working hours.
Repairing customer equipment as necessary.
Installing new systems when required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform installation, commissioning, servicing, calibration, troubleshooting, and replacement of components and equipment on assigned projects.
Execute routine maintenance of systems included in service contracts efficiently and cost-effectively. Utilize problem-solving skills to address technical issues on-site with minimal disruption to clients.
Enhance skills and knowledge beyond initial training to service and repair a variety of equipment as directed by the Service Manager.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the equipment manufactured and supported by the company, including third-party systems, and gain insight into their applications.
Maintain familiarity with administrative procedures related to the role, utilize company tools and systems, and adhere to company policies and guidelines.
Generate detailed and informative service reports upon job completion, outlining work performed and any recommendations for further action.
Ensure timely completion of all tasks in alignment with company policies and procedures.
Request spare parts and maintain inventory in accordance with company standards.
Acquire proficiency in using specialized tools and testing equipment related to the role, ensuring all company equipment is secure and well-maintained.
Actively promote the company's products and services, providing feedback on potential sales leads. Uphold a high-quality company image and demonstrate integrity while on customer premises.
When appropriate, assist in the formal training of Trainees as approved by the Service Manager. Provide technical expertise to resolve site-related issues as needed.
Attend training sessions as directed by the Service Manager.
Be available for work outside of regular hours, including weekends, and participate in the company's emergency on-call rota.
Be prepared to undertake short-term assignments as required.
Contribute to achieving company goals, Service Team KPIs, and any personal objectives assigned.
Take responsibility for personal health and safety, as well as the safety of others affected by your actions. Adhere to Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, Security, and Site policies as established by the company and its clients.
Report all accidents, incidents, near misses, or malpractice to management and assist in investigations and corrective actions.
Be responsible for the assigned company vehicle, ensuring it is roadworthy and maintained according to statutory regulations and company requirements.
- The role may also involve additional duties within the scope of this position as reasonably requested by your line manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Essential:
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification – Level 3 or higher.
Experience in plant maintenance and fault diagnosis.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
General computer literacy.
Preferred:
Electro-mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent.
ONC or HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or similar qualifications.
18th Edition Qualification.
Experience with water purification systems.
Previous experience as a mobile service engineer.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a full valid UK driving license.
Willingness to travel within the region with occasional overnight stays as necessary.
Once fully trained and inducted, the postholder will participate in an on-call rota, which may include occasional out-of-hours, weekend work, and emergency call-outs.
