About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Manager to join our team at Sir Robert McAlpine. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for delivering technically compliant and cost-efficient design solutions on construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish the quality of the design and verify the stage of design development to ensure compliance with the Employer's Requirements.
  • Identify areas where the compliant design could be improved to offer a better value solution in the project/tender submission.
  • Confirm the design is compliant with Statutory Requirements, including Planning Permission, Building Regulations, CDM regulations, and any Contract specified Design Standards and Codes of Practice.
  • Assess the suitability of the proposed design in relation to the proposed method and sequence of construction and provide advice regarding proposed changes to the design.
Your Profile

We are looking for a creative and confident manager who is a strong communicator, has high attention to detail, a positive attitude, and is results-driven. The ideal candidate will have experience working within the construction industry, specifically on design and build, new build, and refurbishment projects.

  • Be a member of a professional body (e.g. CIOB, RICS, ICE, RIBA)
  • Experience of working on design and build, new build, and refurbishment projects
  • Good knowledge of current CDM and Building Regulations
  • Experience as Design Manager on £100m+ projects
  • Client engagement experience
  • Industrial sector experience would be an advantage
