Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to become a vital part of our healthcare team. This role involves collaborating closely with leadership and practice teams, offering flexibility to work either full-time or part-time during our operational hours, which span from 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays and 9 am to 5 pm on Saturdays, on a rotational basis.

Key Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will play an essential role in ensuring the efficient daily operations of the practice while actively contributing to the achievement of our organizational goals and vision.

Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of clinical activities, including but not limited to:

  • Childhood immunizations
  • Cervical screening
  • Wound care and suture removal
  • Executing tasks as delegated by other healthcare professionals

Job Duties

The primary objective of this role is to deliver safe, high-quality primary care nursing services to our patient population. Adhering to the NMC Code of Conduct and professional standards, the Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide essential health interventions and care.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering primary health care interventions efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary general practice team and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care pathways.
  • Maintaining clear communication with patients, caregivers, and all members of the healthcare team.
  • Prioritizing and completing daily tasks based on clinical needs and practice priorities.
  • Keeping accurate patient records in compliance with professional and organizational standards.
  • Actively participating in nursing team meetings.
  • Initiating health promotion activities for individuals and families.
  • Engaging in clinical audits and implementing changes based on findings.
  • Contributing to risk assessments to promote safety and well-being.
  • Monitoring stock levels and ensuring the maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensuring clinical practice adheres to safety and effectiveness standards.

Clinical Services Provided:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will offer a variety of treatment services and health education, including:

  • Dietary advice
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Health screenings
  • Wound care
  • Phlebotomy
  • Routine immunizations
  • Health surveillance

Additionally, the role involves conducting assessments for long-term conditions, managing chronic disease clinics, and ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse with NMC 1st level registration
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Completion of a mentorship course or equivalent

Desirable:

  • Primary Care Nursing Qualification
  • Degree in healthcare or nursing
  • Experience in chronic disease management

Experience

Essential:

  • Recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a primary care environment
  • Familiarity with clinical protocols and guidelines
  • Experience in patient management and public interaction
  • Involvement in audit or research activities

Desirable:

  • Experience in managing long-term conditions
  • Participation in quality improvement initiatives
