Actuarial Analyst - Reinsurance

We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Analyst to join our Ceded Reinsurance team at Markel International Services Ltd. As an Actuarial Analyst, you will play a key role in developing and implementing reinsurance strategies to optimize our risk appetite and improve our ability to analyze reinsurance structures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of Markel's Ceded Reinsurance analytics capabilities to improve our ability to analyze reinsurance structures and optimize reinsurance spend.
  • Collect and prepare data from internal data hubs and Reinsurance renewal submissions, partnering with Reinsurance Placement colleagues to ensure timely and accurate exhibits.
  • Build engaging data stories by performing movement analysis and investigating material developments.
  • Support post-placement data capture and portfolio analysis, including spend analysis, cost allocation, and impact on profitability.
  • Improve current processes and develop reporting solutions and data visualization techniques to provide valuable Ceded Reinsurance insights and services to the business.
Requirements:
  • Some experience in the actuarial domain.
  • Understanding of insurance and actuarial concepts.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Power BI.
  • Experience with data manipulation tools like SQL, Alteryx, or similar.
