Blair West is a pioneering fintech start-up with a female-led founding team, seeking a seasoned Data Science Lead (Credit Risk) to drive innovation in credit default models and data pipelines.

About the Role

You will be responsible for designing and building cutting-edge credit default models, as well as the data pipelines that support them. Located in Newcastle's vibrant creative quarter, our business is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a collaborative and supportive culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop alternative data credit default models, exploring innovative approaches and building related scorecards.
  • Craft and shape the direction of our data strategy, working closely with the founders.
  • Robustly test credit default models, building a solid evidence base to withstand regulatory scrutiny.
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality results, adapting to shifting requirements.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with at least 5 years' experience working at a Credit Reference Agency or a related field, with deep knowledge of associated regulatory frameworks. Previous experience in building consumer credit risk scorecards, working with Open Banking data and categorizations, and proficiency in Python and the Python data science ecosystem are essential.
