Lead Applications Engineer for Power Management Solutions

The Lead Applications Engineer will oversee the design, testing, and promotion of customer application-related initiatives for both new and existing products.

  • Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written, are crucial for this role.
  • Capability to juggle responsibilities between program management and product innovation.
  • Proficiency in analog and digital circuit analysis, along with experience in modeling and simulation tools (such as SIMPLIS, LTSPICE, System Verilog, etc.).
  • Familiarity with multi-phase regulators (Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost), ADCs, and the ability to lead SOC Power Management IC projects.
  • Experience in automation using Python or LabView is advantageous.
  • Assist in customer applications and product development to enhance the sales of RENESAS Portable Power integrated circuits.
  • Contribute insights and aid in the prototyping of new product definitions.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory testing and measurement techniques for analog/power management circuits.
  • Experience in cross-team collaboration to influence product planning and validation strategies.
  • Direct engagement with customers to develop design solutions and resolve system design challenges.
Qualifications
  • BSEE or equivalent practical experience.
  • Over 10 years of experience in power management applications, specifically in DC-DC, AC-DC, and SOC PMIC applications.
  • Strong understanding of circuit design, power system architecture, and PC-based software.
  • Solid skills in analog circuit design and digital hardware design.
  • Proficient lab testing and measurement skills necessary for characterizing new products and designing application circuit solutions.
  • Competence in writing simple non-production code in high-level languages such as C++, C#, or Python.
  • Extensive experience in directing or executing layouts for high-frequency DC-DC switching converters using Cadence or similar software.
  • Knowledge of serial communication protocols, including I2C.
  • Excellent writing, technical drawing, and verbal communication skills are essential for creating product datasheets, documenting lab reports, and developing product application notes.
  • Skilled in using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, spectrum/network analyzers, and other common laboratory instruments with NI LabView software control.
  • Understanding of printed circuit board layout and fabrication, as well as electronic assembly practices.
