Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Lead Marine Engineer. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in engineering or naval architecture, particularly those who are enthusiastic about the design and development of marine engineering assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize your expertise in Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines to identify challenges and provide guidance on Marine New Construction and Commissioning matters.
  • Collaborate with the team to support the naval design process and ensure effective build operations.
  • Leverage your previous experience to advise on challenges and suggest improvements in processes and methodologies.
  • Engage with subject matter experts to identify issues, research alternatives, and share insights with the broader team.
  • Depending on your expertise, lead activities within your discipline to ensure compliance with relevant naval regulations and contractual obligations.
  • Implement and drive a safety strategy while conducting patrols and audits.
  • Assist the Project Manager in identifying potential risks and providing solutions to technical challenges.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including key contacts and suppliers.
  • Exhibit strategic thinking and the ability to translate broader strategies into actionable goals for the project team.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, promoting open dialogue and collaboration.
  • Adhere to professional codes of conduct and ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in marine engineering or naval architecture from a recognized institution.
  • Relevant certifications from a marine or nautical institution, along with sea-going experience as a certified ship officer.
  • Security clearance is required.
  • Proficient in applying both general and specialized engineering knowledge to emerging technologies.
  • Ability to employ theoretical and practical methods in the design, development, and maintenance of engineering products and systems.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively, setting priorities, and making informed decisions.
