About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Physician to join our Acute Medicine Service at Northampton General Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our patients in the Same Day Emergency Care Unit, acute medical take, and within our modern 66-bed Nye Bevan Acute Assessment Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive acute medical services alongside Consultant colleagues and the wider team.
  • Manage patients admitted under your care during the medical take.
  • Assess and review patients, facilitating earlier 'senior' decision-making and high-quality clinical care.
  • Participate in the proper functioning of the department and contribute to the development of our Acute Medicine Service.
Requirements
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council.
  • MRCP (UK) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Completion of Specialty Training (CST or equivalent) or within 6 months of achieving it in a relevant specialty.
  • Advanced Life Support (UK Resuscitation Council) Certification.
  • Extensive experience in the assessment and management of acute medical admissions, with significant experience and understanding of Same Day Emergency Care.
