Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our forward-thinking Acute Medicine Service as a Consultant Physician at Northampton General Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our patients in the Same Day Emergency Care Unit, acute medical take, and within our modern 66-bed Nye Bevan Acute Assessment Unit.

Main Duties

As a Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine, your duties will include:

  • Providing a comprehensive acute medical service alongside Consultant colleagues and the wider team.
  • Reciprocal cover for periods of annual/study leave.
  • Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge and the proper functioning of the department.

During the medical take, you will be responsible for the management of patients admitted under your care. You will assess and review patients, facilitating earlier 'senior' decision-making and high-quality clinical care.
