British American Tobacco is seeking a highly motivated and talented undergraduate student to join our Research and Development function in Southampton. As an Undergraduate Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, collaborating with our Strategic Flavour Innovation Team to design and develop new flavour materials and technologies.

About the Role

This 12-month placement is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Experimental or Biological Psychology, Psychology with Neuroscience, or Natural Sciences. You will be responsible for designing experiments, conducting lab-based research, and delivering scientific workstreams involving flavour chemistry, neuroscience, sensory science, and analytical chemistry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct experiments to identify new flavour materials and technologies
  • Collaborate with product development teams to assess the fit of new flavour concepts across our product categories
  • Process data and conduct statistical analysis to inform flavour innovation decisions
  • Work with the Strategic Flavour Innovation Team to develop and implement flavour innovation strategies
