Empowering Learning is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support the educational needs of students in a Leeds school. As a Special Needs Assistant, you will work closely with the lead teacher to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly those with special needs and challenging behaviors. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively collaborating with students, parents, and colleagues.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the lead teacher in implementing educational programs and activities for students.
  • Providing support to students with special needs, including those with autism.
  • Assisting in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Helping students with daily tasks, such as personal care and hygiene.
  • Supporting students in their academic and social development.
  • Collaborating with the lead teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the lead teacher.
  • Assisting with classroom management and behavior management strategies.

Skills and qualifications required include:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs and challenging behaviors.
  • Knowledge of special education practices and strategies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with children.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviors.
