We are seeking an experienced and skilled Business Editor to lead the publication of our business pages. As a senior publishing role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our priority content is published accurately, in line with the news agenda, and in an engaging and visually stunning way. You will work closely with the wider print and digital publishing teams to deliver high-quality content that meets the needs of our readers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Editing the Daily and Sunday business sections of The Telegraph in liaison with the Print Editor.
  2. Leading page editors to deliver the sections to the highest quality and hitting deadlines.
  3. Deciding on the priority content with the Print Editor, and being accountable for copy, headlines, and page furniture being of excellent quality.
  4. Writing effective headlines and standfirsts that speak to print audiences while also reflecting the digital sell on an article.
  5. Liaising with digital editors and visual storytelling regarding commissions and help with creative solutions.
  6. A razor-sharp eye for legally sensitive content to quickly refer for guidance.
  7. Proofreading pages as and when required.
Key Skills
  1. Experience of business newspaper commissioning and editing, and of leading a team.
  2. Strong news sense and judgement.
  3. Copy-editing, proofing, subbing, and production to a high standard.
  4. Quick, accurate writing of headlines.
  5. Publishing skills, including knowledge of visual storytelling, infographics, and a brilliant eye for photography as well as creative flair for info boxes etc.
  6. Some digital knowledge would be advantageous.
