About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Editor to join our Digital Live text team at the BBC Group and Public Services. As a Senior Editor, you will play a key role in shaping the editorial direction of our digital news coverage and ensuring the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

Main Responsibilities
  • Editorial Leadership: Provide editorial guidance and direction to a team of Live writers and producers, ensuring that our digital news coverage meets the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and engagement.
  • Content Strategy: Develop and implement content strategies that drive engagement and growth across our digital platforms, including text, video, and social media.
  • Breaking News Coverage: Work closely with our news teams to provide real-time coverage of breaking news events, ensuring that our digital platforms are the first to break the news and provide in-depth analysis and commentary.
  • Team Management: Manage a team of reporters and producers, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to help them grow and succeed in their roles.
  • Audience Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage with our audience, including social media, email newsletters, and other digital channels.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other teams across the BBC to ensure that our digital news coverage is aligned with the broader editorial strategy and goals of the organization.
Requirements
  • Proven Editorial Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior editorial role, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality content and leading teams to success.
  • Strong Editorial Judgement: Excellent editorial judgement, with the ability to make quick and informed decisions under pressure.
  • Content Strategy: A deep understanding of content strategy and the ability to develop and implement effective content plans that drive engagement and growth.
  • Team Management: Proven experience of managing teams, with the ability to motivate, develop, and support team members to achieve their full potential.
  • Audience Engagement: A strong understanding of audience engagement and the ability to develop and implement strategies that drive engagement and growth.
  • Collaboration: Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with other teams across the BBC.
