**Job Role/Description**
The coordinator plays a crucial role in helping to facilitate positive relationships between children and their non-resident parents or other family members, while also prioritising the safety and well-being of the child.
A coordinator at a child contact centre is responsible for overseeing and facilitating safe contact between a child and a non-resident parent or other family member. The Co-Ordinator will often deputise and have support in place, but their duties and oversight include the following:
- The coordinator takes a role in reviewing and implementing policy and procedure, with the other coordinators and the Director. This includes ensuring that these policy and procedure are fit for purpose and promote the safety and wellbeing of those using the service.
- Assisting the Director with overseeing the recruitment and selection of those who give their time at the centre. This process will include diligent HR Procedures to ensure that all mandatory checks are complete prior to staff working with families.
- Assisting the other Coordinator with staff induction, probation, supervision, and ongoing support needed to be competent, emotionally supported, and confident within their roles.
- Assisting the other Coordinator to ensure the staff, HR, Management, and all other filing systems are legally compliant and well maintained.
- Assisting the other Coordinator that rotas are completed which provide the service with enough people with the relevant experience to run sessions.
- The coordinator will ensure that there is a referral, risk assessment, and review process that provides children and families with physical and emotional safety whilst using the child contact centre.
- The coordinator will ensure that the centre has a separate pre-visit process for adults and children. Pre-visits for adults help to prepare them and ensure that they understand what will be expected of them and what they may expect in return. Pre-visits for children will usually be focused on helping them to meet staff, to see the centre, to understand how they will be supported and most importantly to know how they will be protected physically and emotionally.
- Assisting the other Coordinator managing the scheduling of visits and coordinating between the parties involved.
- Assisting the other Coordinator ensuring that the venue’s used ares safe and compliant with health and safety legislation and requirements.
- Providing adequate monitoring during the contact sessions to ensure the safety and well-being of the child.
- Supervising Family Contact - Monitoring the interaction between the child and the visiting family member to ensure that it is appropriate and, in the child’s, best interests.
- You will be required to compose a report on all visits attended including observations made, these reports are provided to the Local Authority/Private Clients and can be used for court evidence.
- Facilitating communication between the parties involved, including providing feedback to the parents or caregivers and making recommendations to the court, if necessary.
- Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of child development
- Be able to understand if a situation is escalating and will be able to step in to effectively safeguard the child or young person
- Be able to work with challenging and difficult families and have an ability to put people at ease
- Be able to analyse and deal with the behaviours of the families they are working with
- Be able to verbally present a case in court if required
- Be able to use different approaches to meet the diverse needs of families who will access the service
- A non-judgemental attitude
- A desire to work with vulnerable children and families
- Excellent report writing skills
- Be flexible
Your obligation is to ensure that all contact is safe, positive and fun for the child. Contact sessions are held at our child friendly contact centres, or local community.

Level 3 in Health & Social care, or equivalent.
Excellent verbal and written skills, as detailed reports are required.
Drivers Licence - and access to vehicle
Safeguarding certificated training (within the last 12 months or be willing to complete).
Have own vehicle with 'business use' insurance.
**Desirable**:
Paediatric First Aid Training.
