**About the College**
- Middlesbrough College is the largest General Further Education College in the Tees Valley and has been situated in Middlehaven, Middlesbrough, since 2008. It has developed from the initial main site to the vibrant campus that is now in place with our Campus Heart, dedicated Sixth Form, STEM Centre, Higher Education Centre, and further development for our apprentices in progress.
- The College provides excellent facilities for approximately 13,000 students from across the region and whilst we are very proud of our campus and the equipment our students have access to, we are clear that it is the experience and dedication of our staff that make a positive difference to the lives of our students, helping them to achieve their educational goals and progress into work, higher education, or apprenticeships.
- In 2020/2021, 96% of learners following a study programme attained a positive destination into further training, apprenticeship, or employment. **About the role**

The Attendance Officer will report to the Personal Development Lead and be the first point of contact in relation to student punctuality, attendance issues and be responsible for contributing to the overall improvement of student attendance and punctuality through partnership with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Experience of working and communicating effectively with young people and their families
- Experience of managing student caseloads
- Previous experience of working with young people in an educational establishment and of coaching, mentoring, and providing effective support to students
- Knowledge of strategies to engage and motivate learners and effective ways of managing student attendance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact positively with young people and their parents /carers and to work successfully with colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability monitor and produce accurate and timely reports on relevant statistical information.
- Excellent IT skills and experience in the use of Microsoft Office packages including, desirably ProSolution and ProMonitor
- Excellent record keeping skills and the ability to produce written reports to a high standard/
