The purpose of this role is to provide strong leadership to the Equality, Equity and Inclusion (EDI) agenda for NCA ensuring we are compliant with statutory EDI obligations and duties and are at the leading edge of advancing equality and inclusion for the communities we serve and as an employer. The role is to ensure inclusive values and behaviours are adopted in policy and practice throughout the organisation and to provide professional leadership and management support to the EE&I Team.

The post holder is also responsible for ensuring that the communication needs for our patients are met by developing and delivering our Translation and Interpreting Services 24/7. This service last year provided support in over 84 different languages to 45,000 patient contacts (face to face, video, telephone, and written translation). The team consists of 15 part time substantive staff currently directly employed. Given the diversity of our language requirements you will also be responsible for over 250 bank interpreter and an out of hours agency provision.

**The post holder will**:
Provide strategic leadership, co-ordination and operational delivery to ensure the NCA as a statutory public body fulfils all EEI compliance duties relating to service delivery, decisions and workforce, including (but not limited to) coordination of assurance processes and action plans associated with the Public Sector Equality Duties, Equality Delivery System, Workforce Race Equality Scheme and Disability Equality Scheme, Gender Pay Gap, Accessible Information Standards. This will include allocation of work to ensure organisational delivery and compliance across other corporate functions and ensuring the results are accessible to the public.

Be accountable for the overall delivery of the NCA Intentional about Inclusion Strategy by developing and delivering a workplan for the EEI team.

Be accountable for transparent reporting and delivery of improvements against metrics on EEI within our Care Organisations and Corporate Departments and prepare report regularly to the Executive People Committee and NCA Board.

Provide expertise and advice to senior leaders within the People Function and Care Organisations Leadership team.

**Professional Duties**:
The postholder should have proven and significant leadership experience with relevant technical EEI knowledge gained through study and/or experience.

There should be an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciation of the EEI implications.

The post holder will act as a resource for the organisation, sharing information about relevant national policy and best practice drawn from multiple sources

**Communication**:
Required to work with and influence a wide range of health and social care stakeholders across differing agendas to build trusted stakeholder relationships and networks and lead improvement system wide.

Highly developed communication skills are needed with the ability to communicate on highly complex matters and difficult situations.

Ability to provide and receive, convey and present highly complex, sensitive and/or contentious information to large groups where multiple significant barriers to acceptance are highly probable and multiple opposing views are inevitable, responding openly to questions to ensure full understanding and engagement.

Ability to communicate effectively with patients and service users, colleagues, stakeholder and members of the public.
