The Communications Directorate is responsible for managing and developing the Bank's external and internal communications. We manage the relationships with key stakeholder groups including the Media and Parliament, as well as providing a Public Enquires function. We work with a wide range of colleagues to develop and deliver the Bank's programme of outreach and education, which includes building strategic partnerships with other organisations and running the Bank's Museum.
We also develop and maintain our external website and social media presence and produce the Bank's flagship publications, including the Inflation Report and Financial Stability Report. In addition we lead on the development of the Bank's strategic plan, helping to ensure it achieves its desired outcomes, monitoring and reporting on delivery of the plan to the Executive Director Committee, Court and the wider Bank.
The Communications Directorate is also responsible for meeting the Bank’s statutory obligations regarding the Freedom of Information Act, coordinating and responding to requests.
**Department Overview**

The Museum Officer (Education) role sits in the Public and Stakeholder Engagement team, which is in the Stakeholder and Media Engagement Division of the Communications Directorate.
- Public and Stakeholder Engagement is responsible for ensuring that the Bank is accessible to all our external partners. This includes firms, charities and trade associations, among others, as well as the public as a whole. Its mission is to improve understanding of our role to ensure we are open and accountable. The Public and Stakeholder Engagement team incorporates a number of functions: Stakeholder Relations, Public Engagement, Partnerships, Education, Insights and Evaluation, and the Bank of England Museum.
**Job description**

The Bank of England Museum represents both the Bank’s history and our work today. It plays a key role in helping to promote understanding of the Bank’s role and the wider economy, alongside global economic history. The Museum welcomes a broad range of visitors every year and our exhibitions and events programme is crafted to provide content that reflects visitor interests and needs. Central to this work is ensuring that our exhibitions and events are accessible, engaging and relevant.

The Museum Officer (Education) will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of education sessions for schools and families which will include developing new educational programmes that reflect the key themes within the Museum collections, temporary exhibitions and events in the Museum.

Specific responsibilities will include:

- Leading and delivering education sessions for schools and families, including management of bookings and evaluation
- Supporting the Bank’s Museum team in the development and delivery of current and new initiatives
- Assisting the Museum front of house team in the day-to-day running of the Museum, as required
- Supporting the Bank’s Education team on the loan box programme for schools, including management of bookings and evaluation
- Marketing events and activities to schools across the UK

**Role Requirements**
**Minimum (Essential) Criteria**
- Proven knowledge of learning in museums
- Proven knowledge of working alongside colleagues and partners to deliver a learning programme
- Experience of devising, delivering, and evaluating educational initiatives in a heritage or other education setting
- Experience of working with a range of audiences through learning and engagement activities
- Knowledge of the curriculum requirements for schools across the UK
- Computer literate with experience in the use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong communication skills and an ability to engage with people at all levels of seniority.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Experience of delivering storytelling or drama activities for children.
- Knowledge of working with a range of learners, including SEN audiences
