We are looking to recruit an **Collections Care and Conservation Officer** to join our team based at our **Stafford **site. You will join us on a **full time, 18 month fixed-term contract **and in return, you will receive a** **competitive salary of **£23,000 per annum**

**Purpose of the Collections Care and Conservation Officer role is to**:

- Support the Collections Storage Manager in the development and delivery of the stored collection relocation project.
- Support the identification, planning and delivery of conservation tasks on the project including the management of volunteers.

**Key responsibilities of our Collections Care and Conservation Officer include**:

- Assisting the Collections Services team in the care and conservation of our stored collections of around 65,000 objects.
- Assisting the Collections Services team in the planning for and delivery of object relocation to a new-build Collections Hub on our Midlands site.
- Supervising and training volunteers in tasks such as hazard identification, surface cleaning, photography and bar-coding, updating collections information on our database.
- Working as part of a cross-departmental team to manage, develop and maintain the Museum’s computer-based collection management system.
- Liaising with external conservators and other specialists as required.

**What we are looking for in our Collections Care and Conservation Officer**:

- A relevant degree in conservation or equivalent experience.
- Practical experience of museum collections care, conservation, documentation and collections management.
- Experience in the use of Collections Management systems, including databases.
- Excellent IT skills, including MS Word and Excel.
- Experience in handling a wide variety of object types and in moving, packing and transporting museum objects.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and the processes necessary to manage them within a heritage setting.
- A current driving licence and a willingness to drive hire vehicles to support Museum activities.
- Experience of managing volunteers.
