**Job title: Part time Pastoral Support Worker**

**Location: The Shires - Oakham, Oakham, LE15 6JB**

**Type: Fixed Term until 28/06/24; Term Time only**

**Hours: 18.5 hours per week, Mon & Tue 9-4.30pm & Thu 9-12.30pm**

**Salary: £9,373.33 per annum**

**About the role**

As part of our Sixth Form offering we provide assisted college placements and as a Pastoral Support Worker you would support the learning and pastoral welfare of students attending alternative provisions and college placements as part of their development and pathway to independence.

**Key responsibilities would include**:

- To provide pastoral support to students in order that they can successfully access a college placement on a day-to-day basis.
- To support the communication and interaction needs of the student within the college setting, e.g. clarification of auditory instructions, understanding of the expectations of independent study tasks etc.
- To communicate with parents, college and school staff to support attendance record keeping, activity logging, progress monitoring and support required.
- To liaise with support staff and teachers to share strategies for support.

Recently opened as a day school, we are a growing school who are looking to double our pupil numbers over the coming year, meaning we need to recruit passionate and dedicated staff to support our developing pupil cohort.

The Shires at Stretton and The Shires at Oakham are two Independent Special Schools that cater for pupils and young people 11-19 with Autism, learning disabilities and other associated needs.

The Shires at Oakham is a day only school providing education for pupils with Autism and SLD/MLD. Pupils are taught in small class groups (4/5 pupils), all pupils having at least 1:1 support. The Shires at Stretton provides education alongside 24-hour pupil accommodations, pupils living and learning on the same site. Pupils that attend The Shires at Stretton have Autism and SLD and are taught in small class groups (4/5 pupils), all pupils having at least 1:1 support.
