- To educate the public around the nature and extent of sexual violence and its impact on people, especially women and girls.

Gloucestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre believes every person should be free from sexual violence. Gloucestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre aims to support women and girls to understand and manage the effects of their experiences of sexual violence; it is also committed to working with partner agencies to raise public awareness of the issues of sexual violence in order to reduce the incidence.

**TREASURER ROLE DESCRIPTION**

**ROLE SUMMARY**
Overall:
- Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
- Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
- Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.
Specifically:
- Liaise with relevant staff and trustees to ensure the financial viability of the organisation.
- Make fellow trustees aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting financial data to them.
- Regularly report the financial position at trustee meetings (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc).
- Oversee the production of an annual budget with the CEO and relevant staff as appropriate; propose its adoption at a trustee meeting before the start of the financial year.
- Ensure proper records are kept and effective financial procedures and controls are in place
- Appraise the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies.
- Lead on appointing and liaising with auditors/an independent examiner.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
Management Reporting:
- Liaise with CEO and relevant staff to ensure the regular preparation and production of management accounts
- Ensure a high standard of management accounting is maintained in order to safeguard assets.
Statutory Financial Reporting:
- Ensure that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by the relevant statutory bodies such as the Charity Commission
- Board level liaison with external auditors on specific issues in the auditing process and related board representations as necessary
- Guide and advise fellow trustees to formally approve the annual report and accounts.
- Make a formal presentation of the accounts at the Annual General Meeting and draw attention to important points in a coherent and easily understandable way.
Reserves Policy:
- Develop reserves policy and strategy and safeguard the organisation’s finances
- Keep the board of trustees informed of free reserves position regularly and advise to cope with changing circumstances
Governance-related:
- Lead the Board’s duty to ensure proper accounting records are kept and that financial resources are controlled, invested and spent in line with governance, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Chair any/quarterly/6-monthly finance meetings and report back to Board of trustees.
- Advise on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plans and oversee the charity’s financial risk-management process.
- Monitor any GRASAC investment activity and ensure its consistency with its policies and legal responsibilities.
