Consultant Community Paediatrician

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

Full Time - 10 PAs per week

We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Community Paediatrician to support the community plus service at Ormskirk District General Hospital. This post is part of the community service and will require the post holder to support community outpatient clinics, and when required Initial Health Assessments along with Educational Health Care Plan's.
- Provide clinical leadership
- Set standards of clinical care
- Participate in the development of acute child health services
- Promote integration between primary and secondary care services
- Promote preventative health
- The post holder will be expected to subscribe to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Continuing Personal Development (CPD) Scheme.
- He/she will also be required to keep abreast of current developments in acute and neonatal paediatrics.
- He/she will be expected to maintain APLS and NLS provider status.
- The appointee will work closely with paediatric colleagues to develop and improve general Paediatrics and community integrated care services for children.
- A point of referral for children, throughout the age range presenting with developmental difficulties or health problems having an impact on their education and social well-being.

The Trust provides a combination of services, which is split between the two hospital sites namely Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital.

All paediatric in-patient and outpatient work is based at Ormskirk District General Hospital although there may be occasions when the post-holder may be asked to attend Southport District General Hospital.

Community services are comissioned by NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board.
